Mustaches of the Nineteenth Century

Funny Site of the Day -- "The one-stop blog spot for your Nineteenth Century Mustache needs!"

Ooo, I've been looking for some such! What's it all about?

"Many of the following pages have graphic and clear images of the masculine mustache in all its forms, both sublime and grotesque. My intent is not to shock or titillate, but merely to inform on the subject. The Nineteenth Century gave us many things, but above all it was a hotbed of facial hair experimentation and this is but a poor sampling of those many lost forms."

This occasional digest made me flex my stiff upper lip to stifle some giggles. You'd think the mustache would be stuffy, but it's not.

Bad Postcards

Funny Site of the Day -- Featuring "vintage American postcards, 1950 to 1975" is a good thing when "tourist traps, bad advertising, awful food, stupid jokes, girly girls and manly men, exceedingly cute pets, dinosaurs, and dead fish" are among the pictorial topics. Take a look back to the good ol' bad ol' days of yuck -- with yucks.

Animals With Their Tongues Sticking Out

Funny Site of the Day -- Here's how it works:

1. Get a camera.

2. Get an animal.

3. Wait for a tongue to stick out.

4. Get a snapshot.

5. Post such pictures to a Website called, say, "Animals With Their Tongues Sticking Out."

6. Look at all the pictures of animals with their tongues sticking out.

7. Rejoice.

8. Resist becoming one of the animals with their tongues sticking out your own darn self.

Okay, I'm just writing copy. I have no idea if that's how "Animals With Their Tongues Sticking Out" works, so let's examine their "About" documentation. Here it is, unabridged:

"I think you get the point."

Well, then, guess I'm done here. Good day.

Celebrities Eating Dot Com

Funny Site of the Day -- Sure, many celebrities bite. That's a given, but many consume, too, so what we've got here is a photographic gallery of the empty and famous, stuffing their pie holes. Snarky commentary fills out the meal.

Charles M. Schulz Museum

Funny Site of the Day -- I've been tracking the Charles M. Schulz Museum on Facebook for awhile. It's a joy to receive frequent posts of the organization's "Peanuts" activities and exhibitions in Santa Rosa, CA, but there are numerous trivia, memorabilia, and news items shared on related topics. The big kick is the ongoing stream of selected comic strips from 50 years of "Peanuts," keeping the gang alive and providing Snoopy with many more suppertimes.

A Facebook account is not necessary to access, read, and enjoy.

Adam West

Funny Site of the Day -- Television's Batman of the 1960s has become almost as iconic being himself, Adam West, during the intervening 45 years. Pegged with the pesky Caped Crusader typecasting, the actor pushed forward and crafted an amusing public persona featuring tongue-in-cheek humor, epitomized by his regular appearances on "Family Guy" in the role of Mayor Adam West.

At the official West site, see vintage photographs of his career and news of activities. The big fun is the collection of online videos featuring comic appearances on such programs as "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" and "Lookwell." Plus, there's the "Batman Garage Sale!"

Hipster Puppies

Funny Site of the Day -- These dogs are cool cats.

But only in the sense of ultra hipness, not in the case of fluffy felines. I meant no harm.

See daily photographs added to the gallery of swingin' canines wearing sunglasses, riding skateboards, sporting caps, and caught in the act of all things happ'nin'.

There, I Fixed It

Funny Site of the Day -- Some days, these funny sites we feature come from surprising places. There, I Fixed It was referenced during Jay Leno's "Headlines" segment on TV's "The Tonight Show." So, it seemed reasonable to check out the pages for more photo evidence of "epic kludges and jury rigs."

Wacky workarounds are displayed in the ongoing galleries of do-it-yourself topics, including unsafe, tax dollars at work, tied together, bathroom, bad idea, electrical hazard, Frankenstein, and the ever-popular: duct tape.

Daily Seinfeld...

Funny Site of the Day -- Simple enough: A little something from the show about nothing. Highlighted snippets of the "Seinfeld" sitcom are featured in a text format, along with screenshots of the series and linkage to the complete scripts, if you'd like to see more moments in their natural habitats.

Nic Cage as Everyone

Funny Site of the Day -- "Founded on the belief that everything in life would be better with a little more Nic Cage, the most unique and versatile actor of his generation."

This funny pictures blog may be on hiatus or, perhaps, everyone has been served. Nevertheless, more than 700 entries should hold you for awhile, perusing the gallery.

See Nicolas Cage as The Lone Ranger and Tonto, Maria von Trapp, Wonder Woman, Mortimer Snerd (pictured), Alfred E. Neuman, Yoda, Mini-Me, Colonel Sanders, The Cowardly Lion, and some silly ones.

Things My Date Really Said Last Night

Funny Site of the Day -- All of the shared quotations from the road to romance are supposedly true. You'll have to be judge, while scrolling through this quick-read blog, heavily dependent on contributors.

A sampling of the love:

  • “Your legs sorta remind me of Jell-o… Can I touch them? Ya know, to see if they jiggle?"
  • “I’ve never seen an elf.”
  • “I really have to go work on my robot.”
  • “No, you have very stout shoulders! It would be bad if you grew a demon horn.”
  • “I haven’t slept with anyone since my girlfriend dumped me. My friends basically forced me to go out with you. No offense!”
  • “I brought my own salt.”

As you might expect, some of the content is explicit, crass, and not suitable for work -- and, probably, dating.

Well [long, awkward pause], good night.

Cute Overload

Funny Site of the Day -- If memory serves me correctly, the final humor site we featured at About.com was Cute Overload. I made a special effort to fit this happy eyeful into the system before announcing, "I Cute and I quit."

Now, a year later, Cute Overload is a Webby Awards nominee in the arena of the Weird. I don't find it weird at all, just cute. Cute. Cute. Cute!

Cute Overload Page-A-Day Calendar 2011Baby animals and surprises are collected non-stop in photographs and videos. It's a delight to have the opportunity to spotlight the frequently furry endeavor once again.

'25 Upset Monsters'

Funny Site of the Day -- Having previously featured artist Chris Grine's "365 Robots With Stuff," how could we possibly move on without alerting you to his other startling Shoebox series, "25 Upset Monsters?"

Saving lives is what we all must be about.

'365 Robots With Stuff'

Funny Site of the Day -- One of the more consistent humor outlets on the Internet is the Shoebox Blog, the other foot of those hilariously offbeat greeting cards you gravitate towards in the drugstore. Clever writers and artists publish delights and doodles frequently on those pages.

One such contributor is Cris Grine, who has returned to the drawing table to go where his cartoon series, "165 Robots With Stuff" never dared to go: "365 Robots With Stuff."

Yep, the nuts and bolts continue with an emphasis on nuts. The new entries will appear regularly until completion, and you can always back bot.

Indexed

Funny Site of the Day -- Says writer and charter of human events Jessica Hagy, "This site is a little project that lets me make fun of some things and sense of others. I use it to think a little more relationally without resorting to doing actual math."

Since 2006, Ms. Hagy has been publishing a flow of index cards doodled with graphs, Venn diagrams, and such, all in a humorous approach. Indexed has earned her another nomination in the Personal Blog / Website category of The Webby Awards, joining her similar honors in 2007 and 2008.

Selleck Waterfall Sandwich

Funny Site of the Day -- 'Tis not so puzzling why a Net destination named "Selleck Waterfall Sandwich" would be nominated for a Webby Award in the Weird Dept., so here we are. Seems like a natural to me, Waffle Sandwich Enthusiast.

Enjoy the many wonderful photographs featuring popular actor Tom, diving aqua, and tasty breaded meals you can hold in your hands.

Not a thing like Bea Arthur Mountains Pizza.

FAIL Blog

Funny Site of the Day -- "Helping You Feel Better About Yourself Every Day" and doing so by sharing epic FAIL photographs and videos of others' mistakes, accidents, or prank aftermaths. A fine example would be this proud snapshot of the young men and women of Incest High School.

A nominee for this year's Webby Awards in the category of Website: Humor, FAIL Blog relies heavily on user-submitted material across a variety of topics, including accidents, babies, innuendo, signs, packaging, labels, kids, contradiction, food, police, spelling, news, and stupid. Items range from G-rated to the ever-popular not suitable for work.
