Mustaches of the Nineteenth Century

Funny Site of the Day -- "The one-stop blog spot for your Nineteenth Century Mustache needs!"

Ooo, I've been looking for some such! What's it all about?

"Many of the following pages have graphic and clear images of the masculine mustache in all its forms, both sublime and grotesque. My intent is not to shock or titillate, but merely to inform on the subject. The Nineteenth Century gave us many things, but above all it was a hotbed of facial hair experimentation and this is but a poor sampling of those many lost forms."

This occasional digest made me flex my stiff upper lip to stifle some giggles. You'd think the mustache would be stuffy, but it's not.

Bad Postcards

Funny Site of the Day -- Featuring "vintage American postcards, 1950 to 1975" is a good thing when "tourist traps, bad advertising, awful food, stupid jokes, girly girls and manly men, exceedingly cute pets, dinosaurs, and dead fish" are among the pictorial topics. Take a look back to the good ol' bad ol' days of yuck -- with yucks.

Animals With Their Tongues Sticking Out

Funny Site of the Day -- Here's how it works:

1. Get a camera.

2. Get an animal.

3. Wait for a tongue to stick out.

4. Get a snapshot.

5. Post such pictures to a Website called, say, "Animals With Their Tongues Sticking Out."

6. Look at all the pictures of animals with their tongues sticking out.

7. Rejoice.

8. Resist becoming one of the animals with their tongues sticking out your own darn self.

Okay, I'm just writing copy. I have no idea if that's how "Animals With Their Tongues Sticking Out" works, so let's examine their "About" documentation. Here it is, unabridged:

"I think you get the point."

Well, then, guess I'm done here. Good day.

Denis Leary (denisleary) on Twitter

Funny Site of the Day -- Look who's Tweeting: The "Actor. Comedian. Five time Emmy Award loser."

The star of TV's "Rescue Me" and raucous stand-up comic jots jokes and comments regularly about pop culture and world events. Some are explicit and you don't need a Twitter account to observe.

Celebrities Eating Dot Com

Funny Site of the Day -- Sure, many celebrities bite. That's a given, but many consume, too, so what we've got here is a photographic gallery of the empty and famous, stuffing their pie holes. Snarky commentary fills out the meal.

The Recurring Prop Newspaper

Funny Site of the Day -- Something fascinating, found at /Film:

If you watch enough television shows and movies, then you might even start to notice that a bunch of the same props are used over and over again. ... Someone on Reddit recently put together a compilation of photos from various television shows, commercials and movies, showing how one newspaper prop gets around and is reused, and reused again.

Notice the photos included here to illustrate the collection. Actor Ed O'Neill reads the same news on "Married ... With Children" and many years later on "Modern Family."

Speculation is the recycled newsprint has become an insiders' joke and will be as timely tomorrow and next year and the following decade. I'd just like to read the comics section.

'Chuckle Bros.'

Funny Site of the Day -- In lieu of creating a new destination called "Chuckle Site of the Day," why not introduce this promising series of cartoons here?

Comics.com shares what to expect from the team of Brian and Ron Boychuk in their comic strip, posted with an archive of previous entries. (Hmm, "Boychuk" must be, apparently, a synonym for "chuckle."):

"In a world that’s often all too serious, we welcome you to see it through the eyes of "Chuckle Bros.," a laugh-a-day every day.

"Humor can be found in just about every nook and cranny out there -- down dark alleys, deep in space, far out to sea and hidden under grates. These are just a few of the myriad settings, which serve as a backdrop for the zany world of 'Chuckle Bros.'"

Wall of Shemp

Funny Site of the Day -- Old reliable comic master Shemp Howard is the topic of this loving fan site devoted to the first and third 3rd Stooge, bookending the tenure of his brother Jerry "Curley" Howard in the knockabout slapstick movie team, The Three Stooges, also featuring Larry Fine and other sibling Moe Howard..

The highlights here include The Photo Album, The Soothing Sounds of Shemp, The Shemp Meditation Tape, and Poke-A-Shemp.

Visit today. The curator is spending six bucks per month to share some Shemp.

Pencil vs. Camera

Funny Site of the Day -- An interesting photostream is underway over at Flickr. Ben Heine selects snapshots and then adds chunks of his sketches to either replace or introduce elements to the visual presentations. Seeing is amusing in this funny pictures gallery, which may contain a bit of material inappropriate for all viewers.
